This is not another dinner dance. This is not a silent auction. This is not a fashion show. This doesn’t require a tuxedo, new dress, false eyelashes, fancy hairdo or new shoes.
This is whatever you’d like it to be! Just invite some friends… and have a ball! It’s a great way to see your friends and do some good for the community at the same time.
Over 2 years, we were able to raise more than 25 000$, all of which goes back to patient care! Let’s keep the ball rolling!
The last edition of the Friendship Ball took place from April 15th until May 5th 2018, gathering more than 100 people around 8 Friendship Balls with themes going from Playground Reunion to the traditionnal Cinco de Mayo ! In total, more than 12 000$ were donated during these events.
During the week of November 7, 2016 there were 12 Friendship Balls that took place. The events included: dinner parties, a US election cocktail, a wine and cheese, a lunch for amazing women, a virtual tea party, a PJ cocktail, and a salad bar. Close to 200 people attended these events and approximately $15,000.00 was raised.
Our mission is to promote patient welfare, create a welcoming environment, and engage the community in support of the MUHC.
With no staff and minimal overhead expenses, The Friends ensure that your financial support goes directly towards making all of the MUHC hospitals a little more comfortable and a lot less overwhelming for patients, families, visitors, and staff.
WHAT IS A FRIENDSHIP BALL?
This is an event where everyone can participate because it’s so easy and has so many options. It’s not a gala where we rent a large venue, hire a band, select a DJ, and run around getting food and alcohol sponsors. It’s also not an event that we ask people to incur a lot of extra expenses (tickets, dresses, tuxedos, taxis, babysitters, etc…) This is a simple grass roots event that puts all the energy, expenses and donations in the right place…patient care.
HOW TO HOST A FRIENDSHIP BALL
As a Friend and host, your ball can be anything you’d like it to be; a brunch, a lunch, a 5 à 7, a dinner party, a potluck dinner, a pajama party with your kids and friends’ kids. There are so many exciting possibilities to do a bit of good to help out adult and pediatric departments in need without attending a big extravaganza!
WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A HOST?
Inviting friends, collecting donations, gathering information for tax receipts, and having a ball!
HOW CAN THE FRIENDS HELP YOU WITH THE EVENT?
One of our co-chairs will follow up with you shortly to help you get started. If you have any questions, or need some ideas for your event please send us a message.
Once you agree to host, we will then provide you with invitation templates which you can personalize and send out to your friends either by e-mail or by regular post. You’ll also receive a Friendship Ball kit to use at the event that will contain membership forms, information postcards, tax receipt information, and a fun surprise for your group selfies!!!!
